Photo Challenge Week 43 Portrait: Elderly

October 26, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

My Grandad Bob is brilliant, you could ask anyone and they'd tell you the same. He's one of the most encouraging, cheerful and decent people I know even when we're driving him crazy. He lets me take his picture when he peels potatoes and reads the paper and entertains his numerous great-grandchildren, while eats his dinner and winds up my Nan and tells us stories and even when he has a black eye from a recent surgery. He's always just the most infectious kind of happy, and I'm 100% sure he'll read this, so thanks for letting me bug you with my camera again, Grandad!

Photo Challenge Week 42 Artistic: Minimalist

October 18, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

This week I'm incredibly busy working on a huge collectionof wedding photography, but didn't want to skip the photo challenge after sticking it out for most of it's entirety. Luckily this week's theme of minimalism meant I could go with something simple, and this beautiful autumn season brings a bounty of interesting objects without having to go searching too far.

Photo Challenge Week 41 Landscape: Get High

Lanterns

In the evening of Rory's birthday party, we released some lanterns into the night sky and naturally I took a bunch of pictures because it was so pretty. I hadn't expected the camera to cope in the darkness as well as it did, and didn't even use my tripod in the end so managed to capture lots of individual portraits of everyone then stitched them together to make a composit family portrait.

While I hadn't intended for this picture to coincide with this week's photo challenge, it worked out wonderfully and thought it made an interesting twist on the concept of getting 'high'.

A couple of weeks ago I visited the showroom for General Kitchener, a designer kitchen and bathrooms business to take some promotional images for their social media. Here are a few from the shoot, but you can view more in the gallery here.

Photo Challenge Week 40 Portrait: Sitting in a Chair

I took a few shots for this week, but none of them turned out to be particularly interesting or exciting, but at the weekend we threw a costume party for my daughter and so decided to use Matt's Jedi costume to do some test shots for the Star Wars cosplay shoot that we are planning, and my favourite of the shoot fits this week's theme pretty well :)

Laura & Simon Walker Wedding

October 02, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Laura and Simon married at Walsall registry office at the end of last year, and even though it was a shorter wedding -I only covered 3 hours of the event-, thanks to the bride and groom, their lovely family, friends and gorgeous little sons we managed to get plenty of picture oppertunities. The reception took place at the Holiday in at J10, where the autumn foliage made the perfect backdrop to the bride and groom's portraits.

Rory Halloween PortraitRory Halloween Portrait

If you've been following my photography for long, you'll know it's no secret that I will always have a soft spot for darker imagery and pictures inspired by fiction that I love. Every year in October, I take a portrait of myself and now Rory too, in celebration of halloween. It's my all time favourite seasonal tradition :)

This year I decided to keep it pretty PG for Rory, so that I didn't creep her out and even got Gatsby to guest star as Jonesy in her little Alien inspired shot while I cracked my 2002 eyeliner skills for my self portrait inspired by Melinoe, the Greek Goddess of ghosts.

September Wrap Up

This month has been all family, and parties, and work and it's been wonderful. Rory finally left her 'twos' behind, acquired an army of disney dolls and dress up outfits and I've picked up a few new projects for next year whih I'm really excited for!

Farewell September, you have been good to us!

Photo Challenge Week 39 Artistic: Handmade

September 27, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

With a family of creatives our house is a treasure trove of handmade things, but Rorys Superhero costume still has to be my personal favourite, mainly because I used a dreaded sewing machine to do it and didn't injure myself in the process!

Late September is the loveliest time. The light is still warm but the air is chill and we enter the season of family birthdays and bonfires. It's my favourite.

Head over to Instagram and Facebook for more photos, updates and behind the scenes.
See you there!
