She's a Princess, whether I like it or not

For her birthday last year, Rory got this singing light up Elsa dress and she wore it pretty much every day ever since. But after far more wear and tear than any dress up dress was designed to withstand we had to throw it away. And since Rory didn't have a complete meltdown about it (which is surprising because she'll have a meltdown about just about anything these days) I decided to replace her beloved dress with a new one. Needless to say she's a fan.

Photo Challenge week 15 Artistic: Metal

April 12, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

This week the theme was metal, and found me balancing a torch on my head to be able to catch the reflection of the coin n the final shot (below) while using both hands to hold my camera. I could have used a tripod I suppose, but where would ave been the fun in that?

This week we went to Chris' parents house and the sunshine was glorious (though it was still pretty cold).

Client photo packaging

Most clients I work with prefer to receive their pictures in digital format, meaning they can get the pictures faster, always know they have the ability to make new copies and lets face it, digital photographs -particularly of events- are great for sharing online where all of the people who are in them can enjoy looking at them too.

But having hundreds of beautiful pictures of a persons most important day can fall a little flat for me when presented on a single USB stick in a boring brown mailer and I felt that some of that personal touch is lost when I'm not sending a beautiful, personalized photo-book out along with them.

So I spent some time looking into options for better presenting and branding my work, to make the experience exciting again. And lets be honest, who doesn't appreciate a bit of pretty packaging?

So pretty!

Photo Challenge week 14 Landscape: Zoomed In

Bridgnorth Castle Gardens

Week 14 of the 52 week photo challenge was to shoot a 'zoomed-in' landscape and while I still think my landscape photography leaves much to be desired, doing this challenge is certainly helping me to step up my game and gives me a great reason to make sure I carry my camera around with me as often as I can.

Jameel & Salma's Wedding - 12/03/2016

In March I photographed Jameel and Salma's wedding at Noshahi Civic Centre, Birmingham. There's so much that I love about working Asian weddings, I love being immersed in a culture so completely different from my own, I love being able to observe the traditions and customs that are not only unique to a faith but also unique to the families that have come together to celebrate. This wedding was my 3rd Muslim wedding, and not one have them have been anything alike so far. I love the colours, and the glitz of the ladie's outfits, I love the way that no matter how short the event may be, I WILL be fed. I love how welcoming everyone is!

This week we celebrated Easter with family and Rory got to spend the day being showered with various chocolatey treats. I've been suffering for it ever since. I also spent a fair amount of time experimenting with all of the new settings on my camera. Selfies are far easier with a forward facing screen.

Iris & Romy - 01/04/2016

A few months ago I photographed the lovely Iris (whose birthday is today!) and her Mum while she was waiting for her next little girl's arrival and look! Isn't Romy just the most beautiful little baby ever? I wasn't prepared for that level of cute.

Tiny baby feet are my Kryptonite.

Of course Rory had to get in on a picture. Of course she did.

Photography Challenge week 13 Portrait: High Key

I thought this week would be an easy one, but getting a high key portrait that overexposes enough of the shot without bleaching out everything was actually rather tricky when trying to do it intentionally.

This week has been a special one for me because I finally got myself a new camera! Exciting stuff I tell ya, however it's so pretty and shiny and new that I'm kind of afraid to use it outside of my house. So here are some pretty things from inside it.

My Penguin Clothbound Classics are possibly the prettiest thing I've ever owned.

Will Rory ever just wear normal clothes? I think not.

Head over to Instagram and Facebook for more photos, updates and behind the scenes.
See you there!
