New work for Willow Grace Designs who got in touch after deciding their jewellery deserved more than just snaps taken on a mobile phone. Product photography -particularly for small businesses- can feel like a massive investment, even just in the time taken to find someone who can meet your needs within your budget, but when so much time and effort is placed into the design, marketing, packaging of a product, documenting it in its best possible light is a must, especially when working with items that are notoriously difficult to photograph such as small, highly reflective jewellery.
The brief was minimalist, natural and high-end and as I didn't need to spend much time micro-managing props I was able to lean more heavily into capturing the texture, weight and movement of the individual pieces using light and contrast to make them shine (literally!).
Small scale product photography has always been a favourite genre of mine and jewellery with its specific technical requirements always gives me a sense of satisfaction after a day spent hyper-focusing on reflections and shadows.
